Address History

Trip Detection works by recognising when you are away from home. Your address history helps us understand what “home” meant at different points in your life, so older photos can be interpreted more accurately too.

Without it, trips may be missed, merged incorrectly, or mistaken for everyday life.

We compare the location and date of your photos against the addresses in your history. This helps us work out whether a photo was taken at home or away, based on where you were living at the time.

Photos taken away from home can then be grouped into trips, helping build a more accurate picture of your travel history.

A complete and accurate address history helps improve trip detection across your entire photo library.

• Add every address you’ve lived at that you want included in your travel history
• Make sure move-in and move-out dates are as accurate as possible
• Check that addresses do not overlap incorrectly
• Update your address history when you move house
• Add older addresses if you want older trips to be recognised more accurately

If your trips do not look quite right, your address history is one of the first things worth checking.

• Missing trips may mean an address is missing from your history
• Trips may be split incorrectly if address dates are inaccurate
• Photos may be treated as “home” if the wrong address is active for that time period
• Older photos are harder to classify if no past addresses have been added

Your address history is used only to improve travel detection and help interpret your photos more accurately.

All processing happens on-device, and your address data stays exactly where it should.

Keeping your address history current helps Tripix detect your trips more accurately and bring your travel story to life.
